Announcing The Gotham/Rotterdam Lab 2022 Producer Fellows
by Gotham on January 18, 2022 in Gotham Fellowships
Through its longstanding partnership with CineMart, The Gotham annually selects two producers to participate in the Rotterdam Lab. The 2022 Fellows are Nikkia Moulterie (Nanny; “Suicide by Sunlight”) and Gia Rigoli (Rock Steady Row).
Nikkia Moulterie (left) is a creative producer born and raised in New York City. She is a 2019 Sundance Institute Creative Producing Fellow and Silverman Honoree. She co-produced the premiere season of the Peabody Award-winning Random Acts of Flyness for MVMT / HBO. In 2019, she produced “Suicide by Sunlight” with writer/director Nikyatu Jusu, which premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and continued a successful run at BAMcinemaFEST, BFI London Film Fest, MoMA’s Black Women Film Conference, AFI and more. Jusu and Moulterie more recently collaborated on the feature film Nanny – a 2020 Sundance Screenwriting / Directors / Catalyst Lab project premiering at Sundance 2022. In addition, her work as a producer also includes projects at ABC News, MTV, T Magazine, Nike, Louis Vuitton, as well as numerous works in the commercial and branded content world. She is currently an executive producer at creative agency The Kitchen Table in New York City.
Gia Rigoli (right) is a Mexican-American film producer based in Los Angeles. At 20 years old she produced her first feature film, Rock Steady Row, which won the Slamdance Film Festival Narrative Grand Jury Prize. Gia graduated with a BFA in creative producing from Chapman University where she was mentored by Michael Apted. Her senior thesis film, Pasajeros en Trance, was a Student Academy Award Finalist. Gia was selected as a Berlinale Talents participant, Project Involve Producing fellow, and was awarded the Sony Pictures Entertainment Fellowship. She was also selected as a participant of the NALIP Producer’s Incubator Lab and PGA Create. She is in development on three feature films that have been supported by the Sundance Institute, Film Independent, The Gotham, PGA, and the SFFilm Westridge Grant.
The 2022 Rotterdam Lab will take place virtually this year in light of the ongoing pandemic. The aim of the Rotterdam Lab is to provide emerging producers with the means to build and develop an international network. Providing confidence and skills to navigate the world of international film financing, sales, and distribution, the Rotterdam Lab offers a place to 73 producers from 37 countries.
