Nick Kroll to Host 23rd Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards by IFP

New York, NY (October 30, 2013) – The Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP), the nation’s premier advocacy organization for independent filmmakers, announced today that actor/writer/comedian Nick Kroll will serve as the host of the Gotham Independent Film Awards by IFP on Monday, December 2nd at Cipriani Wall Street, New York City.

“We are so thrilled that Nick Kroll will be hosting the Gotham Awards this year,” said Joana Vicente, Executive Director of IFP and the Made in NY Media Center by IFP.   “Coming off an exciting year with a new Comedy Central series, and winning the Just for Laugh’s Breakout Comedy Star of the Year award, his humor and talent are sure to make the Gotham’s one of the most entertaining awards shows of the season.”

Kroll can currently be seen in his Comedy Central series, “Kroll Show,” which he created and starred in. He can also be seen on FXX’s “The League” where he stars as Ruxin. He recently performed at the Comedy Central Roast of James Franco. And has appeared in LITTLE FOCKERS, opposite Ben Stiller, DINNER FOR SCHMUCKS, opposite Paul Rudd, and DATE NIGHT, opposite Steve Carrell and Tina Fey. Other feature credits include GET HIM TO THE GREEK, I LOVE YOU MAN, and A GOOD OLD FASHIONED ORGY.

“I cannot wait to host the Gotham Awards as I’ve always wanted to meet Batman in person,” says Kroll. “This is just one example of the soon-to-be classic jokes I will bring to this celebrated event. Seriously, it’s an honor to be asked by IFP.”

As the first major awards ceremony of the film season, the Gotham Independent Film Awards by IFP provide critical early recognition and media attention to worthy independent films. The awards are also unique for their ability to assist in catapulting award recipients prominently into national awards season attention, including recent winners and ultimate Oscar® contenders.
