Gotham Television Awards to Present WHITE LOTUS’ Parker Posey with Inaugural Legend Tribute

The Gotham Television Awards Will Take Place on Monday, June 2nd in New York City
New York, NY (May 28, 2025) – The Gotham Film & Media Institute announced today that award-winning actress Parker Posey will receive the inaugural Legend Tribute, in recognition of her storied career, at the Second Annual Gotham Television Awards, taking place live and in person on Monday, June 2nd at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City and livestreaming on Variety’s YouTube channel.
The new Gotham Television Awards Legend Tribute was created to honor television’s most beloved and influential performers. This year’s inaugural Legend Tribute will recognize Posey’s remarkable impact on the industry as she continues to captivate global audiences, most recently with her standout performance in The White Lotus.
“From her early, iconic work in independent film to her celebrated performances in acclaimed studio films and hit television series, and now to her unforgettable turn in The White Lotus, Parker Posey has brought a singular voice and spirit to every role,” said Jeffrey Sharp, Executive Director of The Gotham Film & Media Institute. “Her unmistakable artistry, fearless originality, and emotional truth shine through in every performance, exemplifying the creative excellence and cultural impact the Gotham Television Awards were established to celebrate. We are thrilled to honor Posey, a true television icon, with this year’s inaugural Legend Tribute.”
Posey is an Emmy, Golden Globe, Gotham, and Spirit Award–nominated actress who most recently starred in the fan-favorite role of Victoria Ratliff in the third season of Mike White’s Emmy Award–winning HBO series The White Lotus. Seasons 1 through 3 of The White Lotus are available to stream now on HBO Max.
Other television highlights include her Emmy-nominated performance in Prime Video’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith, alongside Donald Glover, which earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations and was named one of AFI’s Television Programs of the Year. She also starred in HBO’s Emmy-nominated limited series The Staircase and in Louis C.K.’s Emmy Award–winning series Louie. In film, she recently wrapped production on Martin McDonagh’s Wild Horse Nine for Searchlight, appearing alongside Sam Rockwell and John Malkovich. She also starred in the critically acclaimed independent feature Thelma, opposite June Squibb. The film premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, earned a Critics Choice Award nomination for Best Comedy, and was named one of the National Board of Review’s Top 10 Independent Films of the Year. Posey also appeared in Ari Aster’s Beau Is Afraid opposite Joaquin Phoenix for A24.
Additional iconic on-screen credits include her breakout role in the cult classic Dazed and Confused; Daisy von Scherler Mayer’s Party Girl; Christopher Guest’s Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, and For Your Consideration, which received a Gotham Award nomination for Best Ensemble; Personal Velocity, where she received a Spirit Award Nomination for Best Female Lead; and The House of Yes, which earned her the Special Jury Prize for Acting at the Sundance Film Festival. On stage, Posey appeared in the Off-Broadway production of The Seagull/Woodstock, NY; originated the role of Pony Jones in Will Eno’s The Realistic Joneses; performed in Alan Arkin’s Taller Than a Dwarf; and starred in the Off-Broadway production of Hurlyburly, which earned her a Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Featured Actress.
It was previously announced that Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, as well as Director Hwang Dong-hyuk will receive Creator Tributes, Elisabeth Moss and the cast of The Handmaid’s Tale will receive the inaugural Ensemble Tribute, Brian Tyree Henry will receive the Performer Tribute, Sheryl Lee Ralph will receive the Sidney Poitier Icon Tribute, and David E. Kelley will receive the Visionary Tribute at the Second Annual Gotham Television Awards. At the inaugural Gotham Television Awards ceremony, Baby Reindeer, a unique exploration of stalking and buried traumas created by and starring Richard Gadd, won Breakthrough Limited Series while Mr. & Mrs. Smith, created by Francesca Sloane and Donald Glover and inspired by the 2005 spy movie, won Breakthrough Drama Series. Colin from Accounts, the romcom in which two singles are brought together by a car accident involving a dog, took home the Breakthrough Series Comedy award.
The nominations in the twelve competitive award categories were previously announced. The winners will be announced and honored at the awards ceremony at Cipriani Wall Street on Monday, June 2nd, which will be livestreamed on Variety’s YouTube channel.
