About Owning It
Owning It, a program of The Gotham Film & Media Institute, was established with the intention to support, connect, and empower women and non-binary creators and entrepreneurs who break down boundaries in the media and entertainment industry.
The program consists of thought leadership, an annual summit, accountability challenges, workshops, Owning It alumni programming, and more. Past Owning It guests include Rebecca Hall (Passing), Alice Wu (The Half of It), and Julie Deply (Two Days in Paris, The Before Trilogy, My Zoe).
Owning It provides an inclusive environment that expands and expresses a liberated movement for women and non-binary individuals as well as those that are our champions, advocates, and allies.
Accountability Challenges
Owning It hosts quarterly accountability challenges to take your pitch decks, loglines and elevator pitches to the next level by way of partnership support, mentorship, workshop and feedback from industry leaders. Subscribe to the Gotham Newsletter to hear when applications open for the next challenge!
Thought Leadership
Throughout the year, join Owning It for fireside chats and/or workshops with women and non-binary filmmakers and creators making an impact in their industry to hear about their experiences and gain insight into the film and media industry and how it can be applied to your own project and/or career.
Owning It Alumni Programming
The Owning It program consists of a network of over 150 alumni working in documentary, narrative, TV, audio and more. The Gotham provides opportunities for alumni to connect with collaborators, mentors, and decision makers to advance their projects and careers.
