Gotham Week is back, and we’re thrilled to welcome back Gotham Week Volunteers! Vital to our big event’s success each year, the Gotham Week Volunteers serve as critical supporters of the event, ensuring a productive and invigorating week.
Volunteers can apply to assist various programs at Gotham Week: The Project Market; the Expo; Registration; Transportation; Special Events; and Venues.
The application deadline is Thursday, September 12. Gotham Week runs from Monday, September 30 through Thursday, October 3.
THE PROJECT MARKET
The Project Market at Gotham Week facilitates hundreds of pre-scheduled meetings between Project Market-supported creators—working on fiction and nonfiction features and series—and Gotham Week-registered Industry attendees.
Project Market Volunteers Will:
- –Ensure Market meetings begin and end efficiently, with five-minute warnings and wrap time notifications to their assigned tables.
- –Escort Project Market industry and creators to pre-assigned meetings tables.
- –Assist with checking in Project Market meetings participants when they arrive for their designated meetings.
- –Communicate to Project Market staff when a participant hasn’t arrived.
The Gotham Week Project Market begins on Monday, September 30 and concludes in-person meetings on Wednesday, October 2.
THE EXPO
The Gotham Week Expo brings together partners from The Gotham’s Expanding Communities initiative to provide community and thought leadership on topics pertinent to film & media creators, such as Fundraising & Artist Support, Distribution Models, Exhibition & Audience, and Branded Storytelling.
The Expo contains two sections: Pathways Sessions, which includes a series of interactive talks and panels, and Showcase, which includes spaces for organizations to promote their communities, programs, and events and brands to hold activations.
Conference Volunteers will:
- –Assist with checking in Conference attendees via RSVP lists.
- –Liaise with Conference staff and Conference speakers, attending to any “green-room” needs of the speakers.
- –Assist with Conference physical set-up, including seating arrangements for panelists and attendees.
- –Help with managing crowd-flow of Conference attendees, including waiting lines before an event’s start time.
- –When applicable, provide content and assist with social media documentation and photography needs at Gotham Week public programs.
- –Provide IT/AV support for Conference events, including testing microphones when needed, cueing up any clips or appropriate holding slides.
- For certain events, such as Meet the Decision Makers (Friday, September 23), Conference volunteers will assist with crowd-flow and meetings management, ensuring Decision Makers meetings begin and end efficiently.
The Gotham Week Expo begins on Monday, September 30 and concludes on Thursday, October 3.
REGISTRATION
The first point-of-contact for many Gotham Week attendees, especially Project Market participants, Gotham Week Registration facilitates badge pick-up and answers general FAQs about the event.
Registration Volunteers will:
- –Assist the Industry & Filmmaker Manager to prepare badges at The Gotham Film & Media Institute headquarters the week prior to The Gotham Week
- –Assist the Industry & Filmmaker Manager with on-site badge distribution for Gotham Week attendees.
- –Answer general questions about Gotham Week—when things are happening, where to go—as needed.
- –Produce badges on-site for those that either lose badges or are registering last-minute for Gotham Week.
- –Replenish needs for badge preparation (inserts, sponsored items) as needed
- –Support Registration Desk setup and breakdown each day.
- –Support other Gotham Week departments as needed, in the event that extra volunteers are needed elsewhere.
The Gotham Week Registration begins in person Monday, September 30 and runs through Thursday, October 3rd. Preparation begins in person the week of September 23.ins Saturday, September 17 and runs through Wednesday, September 23.
