FAQ
Q: Why is the 2023 Gotham Week Project Market canceled?
A: The decision to cancel the Project Market for the first time in our 45-year history is difficult, but after reviewing the regulations related to the WGA Strike, it is necessary. Read the full statement.
Q: Does this decision impact creators who are not members of the WGA?
A: We recognize that not all Project Market applicants are WGA members. But after careful consideration of the WGA Strike regulations and the industry landscape, we have come to the difficult decision to cancel meetings for all sections of the Project Market.
Q: Will the Project Market be rescheduled?
A: The 2023 Project Market will not be rescheduled. The next Project Market is slated for 2024.
Q: If the strike ends before Gotham Week, will the Project Market be rescheduled?
A: No, this cancellation is effective regardless of the length of the strike.
Q: Will I receive a refund for my application?
A: Project Market application fees will be automatically refunded. We expect this process to be complete by the first week of July.
Q: Will I receive a refund for my membership fee?
A: We recognize that submitting to the Project Market is an important benefit of membership at The Gotham. However, we encourage you to continue to be a part of The Gotham’s membership community. Gotham membership provides year-round access to workshops, panels, and networking opportunities while providing crucial support to The Gotham’s work as a nonprofit organization. In addition to your regular benefits, this year we also plan to host exclusive programming for Gotham members during Variety Gotham Week. If you would like a refund of your membership fee, you can request it via the Project Market refund form. Only those who’ve applied to the 2023 Project Market are eligible for a membership refund.
Q: If there is a Project Market in 2024 will I be able to resubmit my project?
A: No current applications will be automatically considered for the 2024 Project Market. Projects submitted for the 2023 market can be re-submitted so long as they meet the eligibility guidelines in 2024.
Q: Will there be other opportunities to connect with industry and creators this year?

More details will be shared in the coming weeks on our website and in the Gotham Newsletter.
