U.S. Features in Post projects selected to the Gotham Week Project Market are given the opportunity to participate in
- August: a virtual-based intensive meant to prepare the participating projects for September’s Project Market
- December: a lab module (TBD in person or online) dedicated to giving feedback on the participating projects’ plans for their festival and distribution strategies
This curriculum will be led by Gotham Staff and a Leader who has experience in pitching, producing, and releasing fiction feature films in today’s marketplace. Discussions will cover:
U.S. Features in Post Intensive – August (online)
- the state of the field: making and releasing fiction feature films in the current landscape
- creating and realizing your goals for your film and your career
- dealmaking in today’s landscape, from basic terminology and rights to recent noteworthy examples
- feedback on pitch materials and Project Market preparation
- the current film festival landscape
- case studies of recent notable films
- a discussion on career sustainability
Speakers will include past Gotham alumni filmmakers along with industry professionals.
Distribution Module – December (TBD online or in person)
- daily presentations from participating projects on their festival and distribution strategies. Feedback is given from experienced mentors in production and distribution
- daily panels from filmmakers on releasing their debut feature films along with discussions from industry leaders on the sales, festival, and distribution landscape
