FAQ
Q: What is the difference between the Gotham TV Series Lab and Narrative Series at Gotham Week?
A: The Gotham TV Series Lab (May 2022) is a 5-days program created to mentor up to 10 fiction series projects: the teams selected will also participate as Narrative Series in Gotham Week (September 2022) to connect with Industry. After the call for entries for the TV Series Lab (deadline: March 7, 2022), another call for entries for fiction series projects (any format, any stage of development or production) opens in April: teams only interested in connecting with Industry to advance their series projects might apply directly as a Narrative Series for Gotham Week. Short form series in development with a proof of concept may apply to the Gotham TV Series Lab. Short form series in post-production are only eligible for Narrative Series at Gotham Week. We encourage applicants to the 2022 Gotham TV Series Lab to wait for their acceptance/non-acceptance notification (by end of April) if planning to apply to Gotham Week with the same series project!
Q: If I’ve made a feature film previously, am I still eligible to apply to this program?
A: Yes. Filmmakers who’ve made a feature previously are still eligible to apply for the Long-Form program.
Q: My project is intended to be closer to fifteen-minute episodes. Am I eligible for this program?
A: Yes.
Q: I’m not based in the U.S., but I’m working on a long-form series. If it’s an international project, is it still eligible for this program?
A: Yes. All International projects must be submitted through one of The Gotham’s Presenting Partners. All submissions through a Presenting Partner are by invitation only and must have been confirmed by that partner prior to submission or by direct invitation of The Gotham. To see the full list of partners, see the bottom of this page.
Q: I’ve shot the pilot episode of my project. Am I still eligible to apply?
A: Yes.
Q: My project is a narrative, multi-platform series. Can I still apply to this category?
A: Yes. You can use the ‘Project Summary’ field on the application to describe any cross-platform intentions with the project.
Q: Is there a benefit to applying before the Early Deadline?
A: Yes. To encourage early submissions, applicants submitting by the Early Deadline pay a $45 submission fee. Applicants submitting by the Final Deadline pay a $60 submission fee.
